The Santa Clara County EMS Agency will issue routine Information Bulletins, at least monthly, to help ensure that Santa Clara County EMS System Stakeholders are updated as to the progress of the implementation of the new 911 Emergency Ambulance Contract which becomes effective on July 1, 2011.
• Rural/Metro has completed meetings with the incumbent’s workforce. Four meetings were held in early January.
• Rural/Metro working with the labor unit to provide specific listing of benefits and salary by mid-February.
• All positions have posted for hire on the Rural/Metro webpage including field EMT’s, paramedics, supervisors, vehicle technicians, and management positions.
• First 15 ambulances due to arrive mid-February.
• Rural/Metro meeting with County Communications to coordinate installation of information/technology systems.
• Branding of ambulances complete, basic design attached.
• Call data/deployment modeling to being running parallel to existing system starting in May 2011.
• Finalization of the first Rural/Metro facility is expected within a few days.
• The EMS Agency and Rural/Metro provided a comprehensive review of the agreement to the Santa Clara County Fire Chiefs Association on January 18, 2011.
• The EMS Agency and Rural/Metro presented the content of the new agreement to the public at the Health Advisory Committee on January 19, 2011.
• Community Education program transition meetings continue.
• Rural/Metro has provided a demonstration to the patient care reporting program available to Santa Clara County fire departments on January 18, 2010. It is likely that many departments may use the system offered in conjunction with the EMS Data System project.
• The Provider Agreement Workgroup continues to meet to develop the EMS System Provider Agreement and related annexes for first responder and emergency medical dispatch performance and funding and use of fire department emergency ambulances.
• Rural/Metro and AMR are meeting to discuss various transition activities.
• Weekly conference calls continue to occur. In-person meetings start weekly on January 31, 2011.
• Rural/Metro is in the process of recruiting for management positions. Interview process to begin in February.
• Santa Clara County Prehospital Care Policy update drafts are being completed to address EMS System changes. Drafts will be posted for Stakeholder review.
• Rural/Metro scheduling meetings with fire departments to discuss station housing and other services for hire/exchange.
• Rural/Metro establishing local vendors.
• The EMS Agency is scheduled to complete meetings with fire chiefs and city managers on January 26, 2011 related to provider agreements and EOA contract.
