The following is a description of the proposed change:
The following revisions to the Santa Clara County Ambulance Permit fees are scheduled to become effective on July 1, 2011.

Fees: Fiscal Year 2012
Basic Life Support Provider (annual) $6,000.00

Advanced Life Support Provider (annual) $6,500.00

Critical Care Transport -Nurse/Paramedic (annual)  $6,500.00

Air Ambulance Provider (annual)  $8,000.00

Basic Life Support Ambulance (each/annual) $900.00

Advanced Life Support Ambulance (each/annual) $950.00

Critical Care Transport Ambulance (each/annual)  $950.00

Air Ambulance (each/annual)  $950.00

EMS System Identification Badge (each)  $23.50

The fees identified above were lasted adjusted in Calendar Year 2005. Based on increasing costs, regulatory changes, and the lack of annual adjustments for consumer pricing; it has become necessary to increase these fees to cover costs related to the oversight of ambulance providers in the County of Santa Clara.

The EMS Agency understands that operating within the current economic environment is difficult and that ambulance service providers are also experiencing increasing costs. The EMS Agency has resisted increasing these fees over the past several years; however it is now necessary to make appropriate adjustments.
